Pacifico Silano

Pacifico Silano, one of the six finalists for the 2013 Aperture Portfolio Prize, describes himself like this:

Pacifico Silano is a photographer who enjoys long walks on the beach, staring into sunsets and collecting newspaper clippings of Courtney Love.
His work explores issues of identity, sexuality and forgotten histories.
He currently lives and works in Brooklyn, New York with his dog Iggy Smalls.

There is a beautiful selection of cellphone snap shots spanning the course of a year at his site, some of them picturing dogs:

Pitchfork: You worked on The Life and Death of Marina Abramovic alongside Antony, who you've been friends with for decades. How would you describe that relationship?

William Basinski: I'm very loyal to my friends, and I continue to maintain relationships with most of them. Antony is very special to me. He's someone who never stops until he gets exactly what he wants. Sometimes it can drive you absolutely mad, but it's extraordinary. You know what's interesting? This year, I found out that Antony, Marina, and I are all Year of the Dog in the Chinese zodiac. We're all different dogs, though-- I'm an earth dog, Antony's a metal dog or something like that. Dogs run in packs.
